At BuildStory AI, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when creating an account (name, email address, and, if you sign in with a social provider such as Google, the name, email address, and profile picture that provider shares with us), content you submit to generate videos (text prompts, style preferences), usage data (videos generated, credits used), and technical data (IP address, browser type, device information).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve the Service, process payments and manage your credit balance, send transactional emails (receipts, generation notifications), analyze usage patterns to improve AI quality, and comply with legal obligations.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers using industry-standard encryption. Generated videos and assets are stored on Cloudflare R2 and are only accessible by you. We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access.
4. Third-Party Services
We use third-party providers to operate the Service: Clerk (authentication, including social sign-in), Supabase (database), Stripe (payment processing), Trigger.dev (background job processing for video generation), Replicate (hosts the AI models used for image, video, speech, and music generation) and Anthropic (the Claude models used to write story scripts), Cloudflare (asset storage), Resend (transactional email delivery), Sentry (error monitoring), and PostHog (product analytics, only after you consent — see Cookies below). These providers process data on our behalf and have their own privacy policies governing how they handle it.
5. Signing In with Google
If you sign in using your Google Account, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google, which we use solely to create and manage your BuildStory AI account. BuildStory AI's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. AI-Generated Content
Text prompts you submit are sent to third-party AI providers (Replicate, Anthropic) for processing, subject to those providers’ own terms and privacy policies. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in your prompts. We do not use your prompts or generated content to train our own AI models, and we do not sell your prompts or generated content to third parties.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management — these can’t be disabled and don’t require consent. We also use PostHog for product analytics, but only after you accept analytics cookies in the consent banner shown on your first visit; you can decline, and you can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser’s cookies for this site. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data, generated stories, and videos for as long as your account remains active. If you’d like your account and associated data deleted, contact us at hello@buildstoryai.com and we will process your request.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; port your data to another service; object to or restrict certain processing; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@buildstoryai.com.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed at, and may not be used by, children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Story styles designed to appeal to children (e.g. our “Kids” style) are intended to be created by an adult account holder, not by a child using the Service directly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
